Four Americans made the trip over to England to compete in the Winmau World Masters and World Youth Championship.  Yesterday’s Playoff was an open (boys and girls combined) event, with two players advancing to January’s World Youth Championship Final to be held in conjunction with the Lakeside World Championship.

Held at The Spa, in Bridlington, Yorkshire, the event included 2018 ADO National Youth Champions Aaja Jalbert and Buster Graves.  The pair were joined by Brendan Mills and Jacob Demers, who qualified by way of the 2017 WDF North American Regional Table.

Despite their brave performances, all four slipped to early defeats. Aaja had the misfortune to draw one of the top Dutch boys, Piet van Bijnen, first round, and her more experienced opponent grabbed the win.  Brendan lost a tie-breaker to Austrian Marcel Steinacher,  while Buster did exactly the same against England’s Adam Pearce.  Jacob went down to young Dane Magnus Larsen.

It was still a great experience for them, and hopefully, today’s World Masters brings some reward for their efforts.
